My new LeasePlan managed vehicle

We hope you enjoy driving your LeasePlan managed vehicle.

We make everything as easy as possible for you.

What am I responsible for?

To make sure everything runs as smoothly as possible, you need to be aware of the following responsibilities you have as the driver of a LeasePlan vehicle.

Warrant of Fitness/Certificate of Fitness

You need to keep your LeasePlan vehicle roadworthy, in good condition and compliant with all Land Transport Safety Authority regulations. We will send you a Warrant of Fitness/Certificate of Fitness reminder before the renewal date. Please take your vehicle for a warrant before the expiry date. If you vehicle doesn’t have a current Warrant or Certificate of Fitness, it can’t be registered.

Registration

If LeasePlan is handling Registration Renewals as part of our service agreement, we will send replacement labels before the expiry date (provided the Warrant of Fitness is current) . You need to put the label on your vehicle as soon as you receive it. If you haven’t received a renewal label by the time your current registration expires, please call LeasePlan immediately on 0800 LEASEPLAN (0800 532 737).

Not sure if Registration Renewals are covered by your LeasePlan service agreement? Call 0800 LEASEPLAN (0800 532 737).

Road User Charges

It may be that as part of your service agreement, LeasePlan will administer and pay your Road User Charges. If you’re not sure, please phone 0800 LEASEPLAN (0800 532 737) to find out.

Accidents and Damage

You must report all accidents or damage to LeasePlan within 48 hours. If you’ve had an accident or your car is damaged, find out the steps you need to follow on our Accident Management page.

Infringements and Fines

As the appointed driver of your LeasePlan leased vehicle, you must pay for all traffic and parking fines. It’s important therefore that you always keep a record of when other drivers use your vehicle. If an infringement occurs, the notice might be sent directly to us. We will contact you or your organisation to get the name of the person driving your vehicle when the infringement occurred. A statutory declaration will then be prepared and the infringement notice will be sent to you for payment.

Other Key Points

Please check the WOF and Registration labels of the vehicle you are using, even if this is the first and only time you will drive that vehicle. It is important to note that New Zealand legislation makes it the responsibility of the driver to ensure the vehicle displays a current warrant of fitness and registration label.

We recommend that you know your company vehicle policy with regards to who may drive your vehicle and where it can be driven.

You need to be aware of your company’s insurance restrictions. This includes driver age or their relationship to you.

Not sure about your company’s vehicle policy? Please call us on 0800 LEASEPLAN (0800 532 737).
